Project Overview

Ingersoll Sports Complex (operating as the UW Health Sports Factory) transformed a historic industrial building in downtown Rockford into one of the largest multi‑sport indoor facilities in the Midwest, providing championship‑level courts, event spaces, and recreation amenities for regional sports events and community programming. As part of this project, G&L Associates provided architectural metal façade system support and technical coordination to ensure exterior envelope components performed in alignment with the facility’s adaptive reuse goals. G&L worked with the design and construction teams to integrate high‑performance metal systems that honored the building’s industrial heritage while meeting contemporary performance, durability, and aesthetic requirements for a high‑use recreational facility.

Originally the former Ingersoll Milling Machine factory, the complex was redeveloped into a vibrant sports destination that supports basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and other indoor sports, drawing both community participation and regional tournament traffic to Rockford. G&L’s involvement contributed to the successful rehabilitation of the metal façade elements as part of the larger adaptive reuse and redevelopment effort, helping create a resilient exterior expression that balanced historic character with functional performance demands of an event‑oriented sports complex.
