University of Illinois Memorial Stadium—now also known as Gies Memorial Stadium following a historic donation—is the iconic home of Illinois Fighting Illini football at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, originally completed in 1923–1924 as a tribute to students and alumni who sacrificed their lives in World War I. More recent work continues to improve infrastructure and fan amenities, including upgrades to concrete, masonry, restroom and concourse spaces, HVAC systems, roofing and exterior finishes, and new technology installations ahead of centennial celebrations and future seasons.
