Project Overview

The Dane County Airport Terminal & Walkway Expansion significantly enhanced the passenger experience and operational capacity of Dane County Regional Airport in Madison through a 90,000‑square‑foot expansion of the south terminal. This project provided new gates capable of accommodating larger modern aircraft and expanded public amenities such as retail and dining spaces, family areas, business lounges, and service animal relief areas — all designed to elevate traveler comfort and convenience. Architecturally, the expansion blended seamlessly with the existing Prairie Style terminal while introducing abundant natural light, thoughtful wayfinding elements, and durable finish materials that support long‑term serviceability in a high‑traffic environment.

For this complex aviation infrastructure project, G&L Associates contributed architectural metal systems and façade support, working with the broader design and construction teams to integrate exterior metal panel solutions that met performance, durability, and aesthetic requirements appropriate for a modern airport facility. G&L’s coordination helped ensure that façade components worked in concert with expansive glass, structural materials, and other envelope systems to deliver a cohesive exterior expression and robust performance over time — critical factors in environments subjected to high occupancy and constant operational use.
