Project Overview
The Milwaukee Mile is a historic auto racing venue at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis, Wisconsin — recognized as the oldest continuously operating race track in the world, with automobile competition dating back to 1903 and a paved surface in place since 1954.
Wikipedia
In recent years the facility has been the focus of phased safety and surface improvement work to support the return of major racing series, including NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and IndyCar events, involving track surface rehabilitation, barrier system upgrades, and infrastructure enhancements that improve safety, performance, and fan experience while preserving the track’s legacy.
G&L Associates’ contribution to the Milwaukee Mile project centered on architectural metal systems and building envelope coordination for related support buildings and facilities within the complex (such as media centers, facilities buildings, or spectator amenity structures). In this capacity, G&L worked with the design and construction teams to ensure that exterior metal wall systems met performance, durability, and aesthetic requirements appropriate for a high‑use, outdoor entertainment environment, and that those systems integrated smoothly with broader infrastructure upgrades. G&L’s involvement helped translate design intent into a resilient envelope solution that supports long‑term facility use in a demanding motorsports context.
